The bracket for the closed stage of the North American qualifier for DreamHack Open Leipzig has been determined, where eight teams will battle for a single spot at the $100,000 event.
Almost 90 teams took part in the NA open qualifier bracket, through which Chaos, Gen.G, INTZ, and Triumph emerged victorious in order to earn spots in the closed portion of the event, set to play out on Sunday.
The quartet of qualified teams will be joined by the invited sides of Cloud9, Complexity, eUnited, and Singularity in the closed portion of the tournament, with Johnny "JT" Theodosiou and company looking to secure qualification to their second offline event after earning a spot at IEM Katowice 2020 earlier this week.
Complexity, meanwhile. will look to claim revenge against the newly signed North American roster for their defeat in the upper bracket finals of the very same qualifier, while Hunter "SicK" Mims will play his final event as a stand-in for Gen.G before Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand arrives in North America to begin practicing with his new team. Additionally, Chaos will face their first true test following the addition of Owen "smooya" Butterfield on Friday.
The first-round match-ups for the closed qualifier are as follows:
Cloud9 vs.
Triumph
Singularity vs.
Complexity
Gen.G vs.
INTZ
eUnited vs.
Chaos
Only one team from North America will earn qualification to the event in Germany, set to run from January 24-26, while the top two teams from the European qualifier will secure the final spots on offer. The team list for the event currently consists of Renegades, North, Virtus.pro, BIG, and Sprout, with the remaining three spots set to be determined following the conclusion of play on Sunday.
